Hello everyone, Happy New Month and Happy New Week to you all, I pray this month will favor us all.
It's another beautiful edition of HL weekly prompt titled "Freedom of speech or Right to privacy".
First of all, let's look at how the world is now, it is not as peaceful as it is in our forefather's time. The change is affecting a lot of things and yet the government never allowed citizens to have what is called freedom over anything. Even the freedom of speech we think we have is not really freedom because if you say what you have deep down in you, you might get into trouble.
Speaking of privacy, nowhere is safe or private in the world that we are. Everyone is just trying to keep their head down, so if someone thinks he or she is living a private life then such a person is just bluffing because the person you don't suspect will be the one that will expose you to the world. But then, if I were to choose for the prompt I think freedom of speech is still fair enough.
The reason why I choose freedom of speech is because sometimes it is better to talk and be free to move around than to stay privately and be lonely, if we are to live a private life does that mean such a person won't communicate with people around? I guess no and once you have neighbors then you can never have privacy because some people love to dig into people's lives even though you are not open up to them.
I have this neighbor who loves to poke her nose into people's private lives, I noticed her the first day I moved in but then I tried to avoid her with every strength I had, so one day I was coming from church and in the church the person that preached told us never to hide from our neighbors because nowhere is safe we should all be our brothers keepers. I know I should be my brother's keeper but not to the extent that someone who is not my family should have access to my life completely.
Immediately I opened the gate of our house I saw this woman spreading clothes outside and she greeted me, I answered I was about to go in when she called me back and asked, "Sorry o, that tall brother that used to come here is he your boyfriend" I smiled then replied her, "Yes, is there a problem?"
"Not at all, I just like him. He's quiet and handsome, you guys should get married quick because girls out there are not smiling" She started to talk and I was there staring at her, what was going through my mind was is this the brother I want to keep? Someone who wants to dig into my life to know what does not concern her.
After all that she had said I replied to her, "I don't think that is going to be a problem, you shouldn't worry about my personal life".
That was harsh I know but then if you want to know someone at least be a friend first not that you will be poke-nosing around.
I prefer freedom of speech because when I have the freedom I don't need to hide myself from anyone, even though there are things I won't say no matter how free I am to talk.
Private life is boring because I have been there before, when I had no friends all I did if work, school, and sleep but when I started facing some challenges there was no one to talk to then I realized that private life would only make me a boring person so I tried to open up and allowed friendship.
Freedom of speech will always be my choice because I have lived a private life before so now that I am free myself I feel relieved that freedom of speech affects my life positively.
