Anger is that emotion you antagonise toward someone or something you feel has deliberately done you wrong. While anger can be a good thing in the sense that it motivates you to find solutions to problems or drive you into finding a better life for yourself, it can also hinder us.

WHY YOU SHOULDN'T GO TO BED ANGRY

  • The Bible commands us so. We must not let the sun go down on our anger (Ephesians 4:26). To loosen the grip on our wrath, this verse must always ring in our ears.

  • No one wants to die but then no one is certain of tomorrow. It is always better to make peace with people as you do not know if you or the offender will witness another day. This is to avoid regret and self blame. Judgment awaits us when we die so it is better to be at peace with all men.

  • We need to let go of anger if we want to make heaven. Anger pretends to be comforting, but in reality it just consumes us. And if unchecked, it will damn us. (Galatians 5:19–21).

  • Anger doesn't let you be a reflection of who God is. God's anger is but for a moment and his favor is for a lifetime (Psalm 30:5). This should be our favorite verse then: “For my name’s sake I defer my anger; for the sake of my praise I restrain it for you, that I may not cut you off” (Isaiah 48:9).

  • The devil will prey on any angry heart he finds. He will size such opportunity to wreak havoc in your hearts and relationships if you give in too long to anger.

  • God has given us the 24-Hour Gift so we can have time to process our anger and eventually give up from holding on too long to this sensitive emotion.

Refrain from going to bed with your anger. It will not in any way produce the justice or reconciliation you need that you so desperately desire. Instead, cultivate the awesome power of patience and forgiveness.
