Many of us have long thought of our accounts in terms of Steem Power.
Although still an important metric, the waters are starting to get muddied. Steem-Engine tokens are now in the mix and Smart Media Tokens are coming down the pike, allegedly.
For instance, I’m a Steem Dolphin with 15,285 Steem Power. But I’m also some kind of sea critter in terms of PAL Power and LEO Power. What kind is a bit nebulous. The Plankton, Redfish, Minnow, Dolphin, Orca, Whale nomenclature of Steemlandia is based on Powers of Ten levels of vests that don’t directly translate to PALnet or SteemLeo accounts.
For example, I currently have 11,279 staked LEO and 10,317 staked PAL (1,000 of which are delegated to

Am I really a Whale in either case when the total value for both holdings is only $2,000? If so, it’s a case of a big cetacean in a small pond, given how tiny the market caps of both tokens are compared to Steem. Meh, I’m not convinced that using Steemlandian terms in the PALverse or LEOverse has any real meaning.
But I’d like to suggest that those estimated values of 1861 Steem for LEO and 4599 Steem for PAL do have a meaning.
Add up the 15,285 Steem Power, the estimated 1861 and 4599 Steem and we get what I’m going to call 21,745 Steem Power Equivalent.
Sure, I’d have to unstake, wait four weeks, sell the PAL and LEO on Steem-Engine for STEEMP, and power up into Steem Power. Values and exchange rates could go up, down, or sideways in the interim.
But as we all start to acquire more tokens from various Tribes and eventually SMT’s, it might not be a bad idea to start thinking in terms of total value not in the form of fiat.
