America’s Iran policy has been compounding errors. Backing Saudi Arabia instead of Iran was a strategic blunder. The U.S. made a huge mistake in overthrowing Mosaddegh (Truman was opposed but Eisenhower went ahead and did it) that the Iranian people will likely never forgive.

The American Empire is in decline, China is the next dominant world power. China is very good at playing the long game, America can barely see beyond next quarter. If we really wanted to blunt China’s rise we’d be forging deep, deep ties with India. But that would be a long game.
