Iranian President Says He Wants Deal Before Midterms

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Thursday that Tehran is willing to strike a deal with the U.S. before the November midterms, pushing back on President Trump’s claim that the regime is waiting until after Americans hit the polls to settle the conflict.
Said Pezeshkian: “We don’t want it to get to the midterm elections.”

Is this just trolling? Pezeshkian has got to understand that Trump will be greatly weakened after the midterms.

Iran Outlines Seven-Day Plan to Bring Hostilities With the U.S. to an End

“We have introduced a plan to the United States through the intermediators that if certain conditions are met, the Strait of Hormuz would be open on the end of the seventh day, and talks would restart,” Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said…
Iran’s seven-day sequence would begin with a halt to hostilities across the Middle East, including in Lebanon, alongside the lifting of the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports, the removal of sanctions on Iranian oil exports and the release of at least $12 billion in frozen Iranian assets.

Probably a nonstarter. Among other things, Netanyahu is unlikely to play nice.

Don’t You Just Hate Seeing Aileen Cannon in a Pickle?

In a very savvy move, lawyers for the agents went to U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon yesterday asking for clarification about whether their clients can testify about the details of Volume II of Special Counsel Jack Smith’s report, which covers the Mar-a-Lago investigation…
It mainly puts Cannon and DOJ in an awkward spot because they’ve taken the position that even Smith couldn’t even testify to Congress about Volume II. But now going along with Trump’s retributive “investigate the investigators” scheme requires that the FBI agents testify.

Behind the Curtain: Trump's future foretold

President Trump feels and acts invincible: He acts on whims, however he pleases, precedent and restraints be damned.
But Trump's vincibility is being exposed. Courts restrain him more. GOP candidates criticize him more. The public turns on him more.
Why it matters: Time, power and support wane for all lame-duck presidents. But it's new for Trump and will only grow more true and more torturous, assuming Democrats win Capitol power in the midterms, 43 days from now.
This is what the beginning of the end looks like, which is what scares Trump advisers and confidants most. Trump often retreats to his worst impulses when he feels most powerless.

Saudis Have Not Ruled Out Developing Nuclear Weapons
