Today I would like to share information about the pigeon island in Kuşadası.
It is located close to Kusadasi in the Aegean Sea. It has been connected to the land by a breakwater.There is a history dating back to the Byzantine empire. Kuşadası takes its name from this island. It is known that pirates were taken prisoner in the name of pigeon during the Byzantine period.For this reason, the name of the pirate island is mentioned.
Despite the many coups he has seen, the Ottomans have survived without devastation and have been used against any threat that might come from the enemy.After the Byzantine period, an inner fortress was built and surrounded by the walls.
Finally, during the CUMHURİYET period, pigeon islands were renovated and cafeterias were built inside. Boat tours for leisure purposes are made. The inside of the castle is a historical museum.
Local and foreign tourists flock to this island which has become a symbol of Kuşadasın.
