Today I want to share a beautiful plant named Snowberry, which was unknown to me until a few days ago.
So how we met😂
On 29th of August, we were driving from Delhi to Gwalior. After a long drive, just to relax a little, we stopped our car at the roadside and start walking on the narrow road that was on the inner side. Nature was at it's best there. There we saw this plant with so many white fruits. I was amazed to see it. The tiny white fruits looked so beautiful. We knew nothing about it, so out of my curiosity I clicked a few pics of it with my mobile. Later on after a few days while going through my photo library I saw this pic. And then I tried to find it on internet. I was amazed to see the information I found. Here I am sharing it with you all.
**Snowberry, mostly used as a medicinal plant in earlier times belongs to Honeysuckle family, Caprifoliaceae. Name of its genus is Symphorocarpos Albus, most of the species of this genus are native to North and Cental America.
Symphori- means “bear together;” –carpos means fruits– referring to the clustered fruits. Albus meaning white, so referring to a cluster of white fruits
It is a very resilient plant, mostly found in in dry to moist open forests, clearings, and rocky slopes. It spreads by root suckers, so it is great for controlling erosion on slopes. It is also very popular in rain gardens.
Snowberries are high in saponins, which are poorly absorbed by the body., so not to be consumed by human beings in large amounts as it may be toxic to the body. However in earlier times tribal people used various parts of the plant to treat many diseases occurring in human body.
Although it's not recommended for humans but it's fruits are consumable for various birds.

Snowberry is a very beautiful plant, and so it is also grown as a decorative plant in gardens.
One more interesting point is that, I checked in an online nursery for purchasing the plant, it showed the price of single plant costing ₹1000😂😂
So dear ones grow a Snowberry and decorate your garden, this plant is really amazing.
