My relationship with social media will always be a love-hate kind of relationship. At one hand I feel social media is one of the best things to have happened to humanity and on the other hand I feel it’s among the worse things.
But one thing we can’t deny is that social media has made everything relatively easier for everyone and by everything, I mean everything. These days we can order almost anything online while we’re still on our bed wearing our pyjamas. The same thing also applies to cheating online. Social media has made cheating so easy this days that sometimes the first time you will be saying a word to the other person face to face will be the day she comes over to your place for sleepover.
But then talking about cheating alone is like me focusing on just the bad side of social media. The truth is that there have been a lot of beautiful relationship that started on social media’s that still blossom till this very day.
But when it comes to the question on if social media has caused more harm than good in relationships of today, I will say yes and no. It has caused more harm because these days, people see a lot of fake beautiful relationships on social media then they go home feeling depressed and unhappy because they want their relationship to be exactly like what they saw online which sometimes eventually leads to break up.
While I will also say no is because whether we admit it or not, social media has contributed a lot to relationships. Sometimes we get advises on how to deal with certain things in our relationship from other people online who’ve been in the same situation in the past and so on.
So yea, social media has been very instrumental in building some beautiful relationship but then it has also been responsible for a lot of breakups. This is probably why they were few breakups (I think) during the days of our fathers when social media wasn’t in existence. Because they weren’t getting influence by fake social media relationships that weren’t real.
