I have played many games on the Hive Blockchain before but mostly were turn-based like Splinterlands or passive and laid-back games like RisingStar and dCrops. But now peaks a new game full of action that could bring the masses to the Blockchain. What other game genre can do that other than a 3D browser FPS? I am talking about none other than "Crypto Shots". 🔫
What is Crypto-Shots?
Crypto- Shots is a 3D first shooter browser game connected to the Hive blockchain in which your gaming assets like weapons, ammo, characters and shields are collectable NFTs.Players can also earn Crypto Shots token Dot Omega (DOOM) by taking down drones across different planets.

Gameplay Review
You can test the game without purchasing a single NFT. So, naturally, I hoped straight into the game. I played a few games to get the feel of the game and I noticed a few things right away.
Minimal Lag: Being a 3D browser FPS and running it on chrome (resource hog), I was concerned about the performance of the game but to my surprise, it runs quite smoothly. And I believe it runs much smoother in firefox as recommended.
Smooth FPS Gameplay: I was sceptical of the actual FPS aspect of the game. I have played a few FPS in the past and I can say that it gives a good feel of a proper FPS. The game was responsive and the animations were not bad as well.
I went on to record a 2 min run of the game. So, you can also see what the gameplay looks like. I have uploaded it to Youtube.
There were many locked boxes that I believe contains loot like ammo and other resources because I didn't see any ammo on the map. For now, there is just one map in this demo.
After playing some more rounds, I went to browse some NFTs for the game.
You can buy the Starter Packs for 14 Swap.Hive. Each Starter Pack contains the following:

I see enough potential in Crypto Shots. It has good core mechanics and a gameplay loop. You can easily get addicted to this game. I hope the Crypto Shots team will continue to develop this game until it's much more refined.
There were a few issues that I faced. The most prominent was the spawn mess-up. Sometimes you would be spawned outside of the map or even in the void. There was some weird collision physics with the stairs too. Once I got stuck inside the stairs but when I tried to repeat the bug I could not do it. Maybe it was just a random bug with the collision system.
I will be purchasing the starter pack. Too bad, I PoweredUp all my remaining Swap.Hive yesterday. But this game sure looks like a nice project. Best of luck to the Crypto Shots team.
I know Crypto Shots may never be the next Splinterlands but I remembered a famous quote from Hellen Keller,
"Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence."
