Christ certainly affirmed that there were things written in the law of Moses and in the prophets concerning him,
just as we may sometimes get confused on why Christ had to get baptized,John also didn't understand at first why he should baptized Christ.
That's why in the book of John 3:14
he told Jesus Christ that he (john) was the one to be baptized by Christ and and not the other way round.
But in Matthew 3:15 (KJV) And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness.Then he suffered him.
Jesus Christ told him that there's a need for him to be baptized by John.

In Isaiah 40:3(KJV)The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
The prophecy in Isaiah 40:3 needed to be fulfilled.
Jesus Christ and John were in God's plan and will.John was the instrument needed for baptism of our lord Jesus Christ.
This was indeed the fulfilment of all righteousness.
