The book of Matt. 1:6 and Luke 3:31. Proved that Jesus Christ was a descendant of David in the flesh.
It was a common knowledge in New Testament times that the Messiah would come from the house of David. Joseph the Father is Jesus in the flesh was a descendant of David.
As for Mary, the bible did give us a direct clue as for her descent.
Like the man of God said, that Mary was said to be a cousin of Elizabeth did not particularly mean that she is from the tribe of Livite.
If you ask me I would rather say that Mary was from tribe of David by MARRIAGE having been married to JOSEPH the son of Jesse of David.
