Do not worry. I got the same macro for smartphone at first and had all the same issues you mentioned. This lens wants you to get very closer and the subject area covered is very less. But I would suggest not to come to a conclusion unless you click 1000 photographs 😊 by then you will know what are the strengths and how you can use them efficiently. Your photographs are much better than mine when I clicked with macro first time. All you can concentrate on is the patience to wait for right shot and the post processing and imaage crop.

Coming to my current macro lens for smartphone is an updated variable magnification macro lens. Its bit heavy and big too
