The bad ones need to be pruned out.

It's that and much more. There is an epidemic of violence by police officers. One that sees them often rewarded for heinous behavior by paid leave (vacation). The prison system we have here is the most corrupt in the world, as well as the largest. The US accounts for 25% of the worlds incarcerated people.

Every day more insane laws making criminals of people with no victim are passed. Laws that any sober examination could see violates not only the constitution but just plain decency as well. And several laws are crafted and passed to catch up minorities. There needs to be an honest examination/dialogue. Rather than repeating what I said earlier, will share a link to a comment I made earlier.

Something is wrong when the government and their enforcers are feared to the degree they are. Feared justly. While your experiences were decent, any one of those police could have decided differently and your family and friends could be grieving with no recourse. Many are in that position, whether they were beaten, killed or railroaded into the justice system. The amount of people who have evidence faked against them by law enforcement is astounding when you look into it. I did a piece recently that did slightly and it pierced the heart seeing how many innocent people have spent decades, or worse, were executed for crimes that was fabricated and then later exonerated by people of conscience and financial means to prove their true innocence.

This talk of disbanding the police is due to their behavior and expectation they can treat us as inhumanely as they wish with impunity. In another piece I did recently I mentioned how the cops that shoved that 75 year old man to the ground were suspended. Then 57 other officers resigned their positions in protest that the two officers were punished for shoving an old man to the ground. I could go on, but this is enough.

Black people in particular have been subject to these atrocities for a long time, our prisons filled with them disproportionately. Not talking about violent offenders here. Talking about folks caught up for victimless crimes, for participating in schemes initiated as well by our own government. Or in many cases, easily railroaded on false evidence that they lacked the financial means to challenge.

Obviously it makes sense that for order there must be someone to enforce it. But when those charged have so many psychotic sociopaths who choose to be a menace (terrorist) instead, the calls to disband them aren't illogical. For certain segments of our population, interacting with police is much more of a threat than any so called terrorist group. This needs to stop.
