I began facing the same realization several years ago. Compounded by poor life choices, I was shocked to discover the athlete of my youth was but a memory. My plans for this year are to discover what semblance of that former self can be regained, although I already know those former glory days will always be memories now.

I always felt the truth in Castenedas position that man has 4 enemies.

1- Fear. If a man moves past this enemy he then faces

2- Clarity. With fear behind a man, clarity is now the obstacle. It allows a man to become reckless and foolish. Invites a man to journey into falsehoods based on such surety.

3- Power. If a man is able to defeat both their fear and clarity, continuing to deepen true understanding they face the trap of power. Power that will enslave one if they aren't careful, losing their heart and love as they are immersed in power.

4- Old age. The enemy all of us who do not die young will face regardless of mastering the first three. The test here is not to give in to the desire to slow down and stop.
