how do you ever learn something new if you already know pretty much everything? I think maybe it has something to do with Google and how people can just Google almost anything these days

Exactly. Unfortunately Google is more damaging than calculators in the sense it not only encourages one to hold less knowledge, but it can often provide faulty/skewed knowledge. Like the back brace that weakens ones back over time, or the eye glasses that weaken the eyes, the calculator that weakens ones mind with math it is damaging to trust others to hold the knowledge. As they say with crypto, not your keys, not your coin. Not your knowledge, not your context for a broader picture.
