Not really sure what to make of this. If he was preserving them (so many of them) he evidently wasn't selling them. Based on the lack of information at this time, I have heard nothing regarding them being in various stages of dissection for research purposes, nor that he had the equipment to conduct such experimentation.

At this point, it seems there just isn't enough information to speculate on why he was preserving them.
