Oh wow, what an experience; seems like you need to get very far away from Nigeria as possible. The corruption and seeking of money is just at another level. Everyone everywhere has become money driven taking advantage of every situation they can. I am very sorry you had to go through that ordeal for something that should be straight forward and easy.
