Oh wow, I guess cats are like humans, some bite their nails too. I have never seen my cat Bob do that. Definitely a bad habit and I wonder how it can be stopped, I have seen chillies being applied to kids fingers to stop thumb sucking. Maybe you could file the jagged edges to a smooth finish but he will be back biting away again.
