I have not been traveling for more than 2years. With most international borders closed, I decided that I should be a tourist in my own backyard. When my wife had to attend a business meeting in Miri, I decided to tag along.
Miri a city in the northern part of Sarawak is about 1-hour flight from Kuching where I am based. Miri is very close to Brunei and in the pre-pandemic days, a lot of visitors from Brunei would come to visit Miri. Miri is also known as an oil city since a lot of oil reserves are found in the shores of Miri. As such it is quite developed and is the second largest city in Sarawak after Kuching.
While in Miri, we stayed in Marriot Miri, a resort hotel located next to a beach. Although this hotel is located far from the city center, we like the peaceful and tranquil environment here.
The room is quite spacious and we were given a double bed.
There is a nice sofa beside the bed. If we open the sliding door, we are able to see the beautiful scenery of the beach.
The mirrors on the wall make the room look much bigger.
The attached bathroom cum toilet comes with a marble sink top.
My favorite place is the swimming pool where I spend a lot of time swimming or just lazing around. The view of the pool during sunset was magnificent. I always feel that sunsets are magical.
Sunsets, the transition time between day and day are ideal for to be one with nature. I had a wonderful time walking around the hotel grounds during sunset.
From the hotel, the beach looks so inviting.
The area beside the swimming pool is planted with many trees which looked mesmerizing at sunset. I can just spend hours enjoying the spectacular scenery.
My memories of these gorgeous sunsets will be etched in my mind. This is the highlight of my stay at Marriott Miri.
My stay at Marriott Miri is indeed a welcome break from my normal routine in Kuching where I stayed at home most of the time. It was an enjoyable and leisurely trip and helped me to re-connect with nature.
