I often see these little guys when I'm out walking. They feed on Wattle trees, then go for a walk! The one in front lays down a silk trail that the rest follow. They end up turning into a brown moth. There was some good info at: http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au/noto/lunifer.html
