Pastel hues

Our love was once like a fresh bouquet

our closeness, warm as a favorite song,

But sadly, time-withered it away -

and I wonder, what had I done wrong?

The bright skies turned a gloomy grey

and covered up the sun

coldness swept into your heart

and our happiness, you flung-

MY joyful heart, ripped out as I breathed

so callously, and done with ease ...

into a puddle, it landed with a splash

I picked it out gently,

as your harsh words did lash

... and carried it away

burying it deep within my soul

hoping it would beat

with life again one day ...

Then, miraculously, I met you

and those hostile words of dark abuse

were replaced with a new bouquet

of sweetness and pastel hues

through time, you nurtured

a heart I thought always doomed

and soon the colors returned again

and like a rode, our petals bloomed

Thank you for sunshine and brightening my days

and clearing away the gloomy haze,

you've given me hope and I hope to never lose

a new joy of love in pastel hues ...
