It's 4:30 am and I can't sleep because I have a thought, and I need to get it out. I have this thing where I can solve problems or have ideas while I sleep. It happens at different stages of sleep. Sometimes I wake up from REM with an idea, sometimes it's at the edges of sleep that my brain unconsciously solves the latest puzzle I've encountered.

I'm not talking about other uses for blockchain technology, for which there are many, I'm talking at the very basic level of a cryptocurrency.
What if most wallets would also accept a flag token?
I could pick any wallet address and send it, out of thin air, a coin that essentially signals that I find that wallet has done something wrong. No explanation, no memo. I give my address and their address, and they get a flag token. I can only ever do this once with every pair of accounts.
Well, there are many obvious problems with this, such as abuse. But there is also the fact it's entirely subjective. People may regard it as a positive thing, and wear those coins as a badge of honor. People may even start giving them up as positive reinforcements.
Could you trade them? Could you just send them to someone else? Can you trade it on the market? Can it have negative value? Pay me 0.001 BTC and I'll take that 1 flag token off you too.
Makes me think of a world where everyone has a wallet attached to their name. You can flag someone with a cryptocoin. For most people, this is quite devastating, like the downvote episodes. But for the rich and powerful, this simply means they sell their flag coins to other people. People willing to take on the burden; the scorn of society to, well, eat. But after a certain number of flags, they begin being shunned by stores, and any money they do have becomes harder and harder to use.
In the darkest corners of the world, people are kept hostage with the entire purpose of being flag dumps for the mafia.
Back to a more cheerful reality, can a flag token be a positive impact on a place like steemit? Probably not, but I heard talks about flagging accounts instead of flagging comments, which would serve a similar purpose, I suppose.
