Hello/ Bonjour/ Hola/ Guten tag/ Ciao/ Ola/ Namaste/ salaam fellow Steemers. What an exciting time to be writing to such a wide audience.
My name is Farhanah and I am a mathematics teacher. I have been teaching in the United Kingdom for four years and I have just travelled halfway around the world to discover the education system in New Zealand. I would be lying if I said it was just the education system that I was interested in, New Zealand is a beautiful Country with gorgeous beaches, magnificent landscapes, and friendly locals. I guess I wanted to observe people and children in a relaxed climate and in doing so can somewhat become relaxed myself.
I arrived in New Zealand on the 1st of January 2018! (Happy new year to me). I wanted this to be a life-changing experience and a start of a new chapter in my life. I have left my entire extended family and friends from the United Kingdom. I leave behind my colleagues and children I have nurtured from an early age. I leave behind my safety nets and embark on an adventure where the future is what I make it.
I have no expectations and am reluctant to ask to any questions about the Students’, the Schools’ and the education system as I don't want peoples views and opinions to influence what I see or the way I see things.
Ideally, after a while, I would love to make a comparison with the education system in New Zealand and the UK but after much thought, this would be near impossible. How can two Countries with so many differences be compared? Although I may not compare, I may look into analyzing the techniques used and why it works or in many cases does not work.
I hope to keep you all informed of my journey in 2018.
By the way, a big thank you to @joe.public for introducing me to Steemit :) A lovely man with a huge heart!
