My mom actually lives in Scotland! Near Inverness. I try to go every year, love the cairngorms and three years ago I decided to go Skye, had heard amazing things about it. So I packed my tent, drove my Dutch car all the way over to Skye (man that was far) and then.... Got eaten alive my midges. West coast midge season is no joke people. They are like mosquito's but then so tiny they can pass through any barrier. The only way to get rid of them is to keep moving (they are slow) or when it rains. So I even had to eat while walking just to save my face from getting eaten.... Other than that Scotland is beautiful! Nature is amazing, people are nice and it is remote!
