Thanks a lot Graham, and the random machine of course! I've just started staking pob so will use it well!
Interesting that the randomizer connects pretty well with your new topic. It's an interesting question on inherent order or all chance. I know very little about physics and chemistry (I'm a history teacher) but I am immensely fascinated by the universe and how the heck we (living organisms) came to be. When you think about it so many things have to work: there has to be oxygen, light, a livable atmosphere, a decent temperature etc. It seems impossible to me to write so many factors down to simple chance.
For quite a while now us humans have been looking at the heavens and wondered: is there another one like us? So far we have not found that place among the billions of possible planets out there. I found this picture about habitable zones (apparently your distance to the sun is very important when it comes to the ability to find water and thus life)
But maybe we are trying to hard to find the next earth that we are missing life forms that may be based on other chemicals?
Before I keep rambling about things I know too little about: I guess all I have to offer is what seems sensible to me: I would feel like it could be chance but then we got really really lucky. My gut tells me it is not chance, but maybe that is wishful thinking as we humans love to feel special haha
Look forward to hearing your thoughts!
