In just over two days we will be getting to know our brand-new press car in Tango Red no less, and believe it or not it's been about four months since Annabelle and myself filmed / reviewed any press cars.
In a word, this is quite daunting - it is perfectly fine when you get the car each week and you just literally, review it etc and move onto the next, explaining what a vehicle offers e.g. the exterior styling tech, economy and so on, however when you add such a long break and to put this into context it is over 120 days, it's hard to keep the flow and style your audience have come to expect, and it does kinda get to you.
Annabelle also pointed out today that the challenge is twofold meaning it's not just the fact that we haven't reviewed, we also haven't reviewed an Audi for over three years and the Q8 didn't perform quite as well as we expected even though we took over a local Lakeland dealer and filmed everything we needed.
The car we have coming on Tuesday is the Audi A3 Sportback 40 TFSI e and yes the e denotes it is a plug-in hybrid which offers upto 35 miles of electric driving, okay i'm getting carried away with myself and going into review mode.
For the last few days we've been preparing all the paperwork, brochures, specs and looking at online reviews etc and generally preparing to have a week with a press car.
Since we've entered a new year, especially as 2020 was such a challenging year, why not refine the format. The idea is to have a 10 a 15 second blurb telling you basically what you will get in the review quick mention of the car, quick spec, slight bit of history and the price then we roll the ident.
We've always had the ident at the beginning have we've noticed many other channels have all of the sudden changed to this new format, whether it helps cotent perform better better in reviews and searches we will find out.
Primarily it tells your viewers pretty much immediately what they will be seeing in the next 15 to 20 minutes, which can only be a good thing.
Annabelle and myself started this morning putting together a 15 second idea, which actaully took an hour and a half - but it worked, we now know what we're going to say we've also introduced a new tweak as well, but you'll to see that we put our first review live.
Currently we've got very heavy storms not very conducive for car reviews we have also had a bit of rain, which helps the plants - yet again not ideal for cars. It is looking like it's going to be a lot brighter towards the end of next week which means on the Tuesday we can get some quick videos and go live.
Until next week and thank you all and enjoy the rest the weekend, we aim too.
