It's Anything Goes Friday and I've been working on this pixel art off and on for a few days now and I feel like it's time to call it done... It's a lever action rifle, enjoy and as usual the animated GIF is at the end!
Step 1
The usual step 1... I'm gettin' those outlines out of the way first. This is always the hardest part for me. It's like how writers talk about getting that first sentence or paragraph down.
Step 2
Basic colors. Just got to get something going here to better see what I'm after. I ended up changing these wood colors quite a bit as you'll see.
Step 3
Adding some more color...
Step 4
Just some final color fills...
Step 5
Removing some outlines and adding extra details here and there.
Step 6
Alright, now it's starting to look right. Getting the wood started on the stock and adding highlights to the barrel.
Step 7
Adding some more wood detailing to the rest of the stock.
Step 8
A few last minute highlights and shadows... I think this one's done.
