Splinterlands Guild Brawl | Fray 2

What are the odds of seeing an opponent with almost the same strategy as yours? πŸ˜‚

Welcome to another Guild Brawl battle in Fray 2! This time, I was ready to see how my lineup would perform, but the moment I checked my opponent's cards, I honestly thought we had built almost identical teams!

And then… I realized I had underestimated what was hiding in that lineup. 😭

πŸ›‘οΈ Wait… Are We Using the Same Strategy?

The first thing I noticed was that both of us were using Eternan Brune, with its -2 Armor effect on enemy units. That already made the matchup interesting!

And then Conscript, which allows an additional Gladiator card in battle.

And guess what? We both brought the same two Gladiators:

  • Fina Voxom β€” ready to hunt down low-health enemies with Opportunity and grow stronger through Bloodlust.

  • Chimney Wallstop β€” another dangerous Gladiator with Reach and Bloodlust, capable of becoming a bigger threat as the battle progresses.

At this point, I was thinking, "Bro, did my opponent just copy my homework?!" 🀣🀣

But wait, there's more!

We also had Ferox Defender, providing that sweet +2 Armor to allied units through Protect.

So, let me get this straight:

  • Eternan Brune reduces enemy Armor by 2.
  • Ferox Defender gives our own team +2 Armor.
  • Conscript allows us to bring an extra Gladiator.
  • Both teams have Fina Voxom and Chimney Wallstop.

Seriously, what could possibly go wrong? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜…

πŸ”₯ The Plot Twist: Emberguard and Sorriel the Bale!

1000118975.png

Just when I thought this would be a battle of nearly identical lineups, I finally noticed the biggest difference.

My opponent had Emberguard and Sorriel the Bale! 😭

That Emberguard brought additional magic damage to the fight, while Sorriel the Bale was another serious threat with its Double Strike (Magic)

That combination was a nasty surprise. The lineup had its own offensive plan, and it was much more dangerous than I initially realized.

The Armor exchange looked promising, but having Armor doesn't automatically protect a team from magic attacks. Meanwhile, Sorriel's ability to attack twice each turn meant I couldn't afford to ignore the damage it could dish out.

And just like that, my confidence from seeing the similar lineups started disappearing. πŸ’€πŸ”₯

βš”οΈ What I Learned From This Brawl

This battle reminded me that similar lineups don't necessarily mean similar battle outcomes.

At first glance, I focused too much on the shared cards and effects. I saw Eternan Brune, Conscript, Fina Voxom, Chimney Wallstop, and Ferox Defender and immediately thought we were on equal footing.

But the real difference was in the supporting damage dealers.

Those two, Emberguard and Sorriel the Bale changed the matchup. They gave my opponent another way to pressure my team instead of relying only on the same Gladiator strategy.

Sometimes, the cards that look familiar aren't the ones you should worry about most. It's the extra pieces that complete your opponent's strategy that can make all the difference.

πŸ˜‚ Final Thoughts

I went into this battle thinking, "Nice, bro! Same lineup, same strategy. Let's see who's better!"

Then I noticed those Emberguard and Sorriel the Bale.

Me: "Wait a minute… THAT WAS NOT PART OF THE PLAN!" 🀣😭

That's the beauty of Guild Brawls. Every battle is another lesson in team composition, card positioning, and never judging an opponent's lineup too quickly.

GG to my opponent! This Fray 2 matchup definitely reminded me to look beyond the familiar cards before celebrating too early. πŸ˜‚πŸ”₯

How about you, fellow Splinterlands players? Have you ever entered a battle thinking your opponent had the same lineup, only to discover a nasty surprise waiting for you?
