" At the top of the Poledník stands a very strange tower, which served as a eavesdropping device to neighboring Germany during the Iron Curtain. Today there is an observation tower and a gallery. In the vicinity, it is possible to legally spend the night or warm yourself by the fire, which is almost always burning here, thanks to enough wood from the 2007 disaster.

🥈 The Fish Lakes Hike by @generikat

" In fact, we felt like we were the cast in an adventure movie as we slowly ascended the side of the mountain towards the first of the Fish Lakes. It was like walking through the belly of a mountain, with steep glacial granite slopes on each side of us. The kids led the way, and more than once M and I commented on how nice it was to be hiking with people who were in it to win it."

" We were then whisked away in cars to the local village where the festivities continued. The main street was festooned with fluttering flags and a long covered area with rows of seating for us to enjoy more of the talents of the local community. Two of our lovely ladies, Carol and Lyndell, were introduced to the King and his Lady and recieved locally crafted scarves as part of the welcome."
