Hi everyone @LivingUKTaiwan here with today's #TravelDigest. We have seen a lot of new travellers on Pinmapple recently and that's great news for us on haveyoubeenhere and Pinmapple, the entire travel community and Hive as a whole.
In case you aren't alreaday, we'd love to see you post directly from our community in Hive created/hive-163772. In addition to the extra exposure and opportunity to engage with other like minded travellers, the haveyoubeenhere community is the only travel community supported by OCD. Any posts posted directly from our community on Hive could get further support from OCD, and the best thing about posting directly from our community is that you get to keep all your author rewards. We don't take any beneficiary rewards from you !!!
"About five minutes walk from the monastery and also in the middle of town there is Kinich Kak Moo. For me, it is one of the most beautiful pyramids in Yucatan, perhaps in all of Mexico. In any case, the ruins have a special atmosphere. When we arrived in the midday heat, a small group of Mayans was celebrating a ceremony. Two men and a woman stood on the highest point of the pyramid and turned alternately in the four directions, while one of them blew a conch shell. "

"Not wanting to renovate this particular sub, the navy decided to decommission it and had slated it to be destroyed. Thankfully the local maritime society learned of it and set out on bringing it back to where it belongs, it's origins in Portsmouth. The number of people who donated and the other challenges that local residents rose to without batting an eye is a great testament to when people will move mountains to do something that's important to them. Hopefully we haven't lost that sentiment is all I can say!"

"After this was the Egawa Residence, really close to the previous temples. This is the main draw of the area. Its the house of a famous Japanese chap, who was quite the polymath. He believed that firearms were the best way to defend the country from western encroachment. He also invented many practical machines, drew sketches and catalogued many animals and birds. A sort of Japanese Erasmus Darwin. It was quite an interesting place. "
