Hi everyone! Some of you may have noticed I've been taking a rest these few days.
The Pinmapple map has been around since my predecessor SteemitWorldMap started over 5 years ago when the map was developed using a by now fairly outdated codebase. We are now building everything from scratch, and moving from a PHP based implementation to a ReactJS (frontend) and NodeJS (backend) implementation. The new codebase will also be open source (just like the current implementation) so others can add improvements. Some of this work has been ongoing behind the scenes for a while but we have got to a stage where we've come across some issues causing the pins to not show up on the map, pushing the priority higher. The devs are working on this and expecting it to be ready within a week.
In the meanwhile, you can still continue to add your travel post to Pinmapple. The post won't show up on the map yet, but it will, along with the rest of your previous pins when Pinmapple is up and running again. The curation team will not be producing the daily Travel Digest during this period, but will continue to upvote and support good quality travel content as usual.
