Staunton, Virginia's Stonewall Brigade Band is the oldest continuously operating community bands in America. Originally called the Mountain Saxhorn Band when founded in 1855, they have added woodwinds and percussion over the years, and still play every week in the summer at Gypsy Hill Park. Players have ranged in age from 12 through 85 overa roster that holds more than a thousand names over the years.
