It's vitally important to global press freedom and to OUR freedoms that Julian Assange is not prosecuted for exposing truthful information about the inner workings of the powers-that-be.
If people think negatively about Assange for partisan reasons, they need to look deeper. He didn't work for the Russians. He worked for all of us, a beacon of truth in a sea of lies.
The diplomatic cables, war logs and emails were all a huge gift to academic researchers and historians. It's important that we know what our leaders are doing behind closed doors.
Keep in mind that we live in a 100% surveillance state where everything ordinary people do is recorded by the government. But if someone dares to shine a spotlight on them - our "public servants" - then that person is crucified.
Quite the double standard.
If he's prosecuted in the US it will likely be a sham trial - behind closed doors with Assange unable to defend himself.
This is how totalitarianism works - and the American people appear to be welcoming it with open arms - unless we resist.
As Chris Hedges states: "The arrest of Assange, I fear, marks the official beginning of the corporate totalitarianism that will define our lives." I personally think that corporate totalitarianism has been defining our lives for a thousand years or more, under various guises, but I agree with the sentiment.
