When my cousin celebrated her 18th birthday yesterday, I felt like a debutant in sporty wear. I did not wear a gown or any chic attire since the rain fell heavily and the weather was freezing.
It was a happy occasion with family, friends, relatives, and classmates. Perhaps it was a blessing to see her growing up, not to mention that when I was in high school, I was her babysitter when I had no class. I saw her mature. Her smile was visible. I saw her chuckle. I constantly see her.
There once lived a young child in a distant region who had the beauty of an angel. This girl was born on January 12, 2005, and she is the only daughter. Indeed her dad was happy watching from my heaven that she had such a loving and gentle upbringing.
Everyone adores her for being beautiful on the inside and exterior. She has an angelic voice. She has no limits to her smile. Her heart has no fear. Her mind is open to the idea. For fun and companionship, she is willing to embark on any journey. More sophisticated than timid, more daring than fun, more charismatic than endearing, and more seductive than attractive. She has matured, and what a sight she has become.
And now, I witnessed her as a grown woman. She is a noble, upright, and aspirational woman. Aleka Alexandra, her name echoes beauty, brilliance, and resilience. The birthday motif was rose gold.
We were gathered yesterday to see a little girl blossom into a stunning woman. We are pretty fortunate that we were chosen to come and take part in the significant event in the debutante's life.
She had a simple preparation for her debut because she did not want to wear a gown. She wants to make it casual. Although she did not want to have a program, her mother still prepared the 18 candles, 18 roses, and 18 treasures.
The 18 flowers conveyed many meanings, but they frequently represent varying degrees of love and affection, messages of love, forgiveness, beauty, purity, hope, and humility. The 18 roses represent 18 exceptional men in the debutante's life, including her friends and family.
The 18 candles conveyed a sense of mysticism and spiritual direction. It represented safety and made things clearer. It also represented the 18 essential individuals who have guided the celebrant as she has grown up. And that they are also the ones who genuinely love and care for her.
The 18 treasures were the beautiful ladies in pink beside the cake. The thought, the worth, and the essence that the present carries are more important than how expensive, exquisite, or priceless they were, and the presents mean a lot to the debutante, and she cherished them for the rest of her life.
The transition from adolescence to young adulthood, with all its attendant obligations, almost occurs at 18. Indeed we were happy as we came to celebrate the coming of age of this fantastic lady with us.
We all rejoiced yesterday as our girl turned 18 and became a fully grown woman. It made my day. I remembered the days when I was younger, and I was feeling like a debutant.
