Upon reaching Xandar, the Guardians sought help from the Worldmind but were met with cold logic and refusal. As the Nova Corps abandoned the station and its refugees, chaos followed. The Church of Universal Truth arrived moments later, exploiting the disaster and spreading the promise further.
Upon arriving at Xandar, the Guardians were met with a heartbreaking sight: hundreds of refugees were crowded around the station, hoping for protection when Nova Corps were their only hope. Peter decided the team needed to call the station directly and demand to speak with the Worldmind to get some answers.
The calling process was an absolute nightmare. I had to navigate through language selections and various automated options, only to have every request rejected. Eventually, I tried selecting the option to "pay a fine," and ironically, that worked right away.
The Worldmind, a massive and imposing head-like figure, finally appeared on the screen. It demanded that the Guardians of the Galaxy explain their presence.
Peter didn't hold back, telling the entity straight out that the galaxy was in desperate need of saving and that they were there to help.
The Worldmind acknowledged the threat, explaining that a mass delusion known as "The Promise" was sweeping through the systems, converting everyone it touched.
Peter said, that the Guardians had seen the effects of The Promise up close and personal. He explained that they knew exactly who was behind it, and that they were there to share vital information so the Worldmind could put a stop to it once and for all.
The Worldmind stated that the Universal Church of Truth could not be stopped. I had to help Peter improvise the conversation, emphasizing that they had successfully escaped the Church's mothership and possessed high-level intelligence that could be used to dismantle their operations.
Despite Peter's best efforts and arguments, the Worldmind wasn't convinced. It coldly stated that there was nothing the Guardians could tell it that it didn't already know.
It seemed that the collective mind had already run the numbers and decided that resistance was futile, leaving the Guardians frustrated.
After that heavy conversation, the automated system was still asking for the payment. I just cancelled the transaction, as there was no point in paying a fine to a system that was essentially giving up on the rest of the galaxy.
Suddenly, the team noticed a massive shift in movement. It became clear that Xandar was preparing to take off. The Nova Corps were only interested in saving their own skins, abandoning the thousands of refugees who were left floating in space with no one to protect them.
In a flash, the entire colony disappeared, jumping to a safe location. The sudden departure created a massive vacuum and heavy winds that tossed the remaining spaceships around like toys. Peter had to take control of the Milano, to avoid colliding with other drifting ships in the chaos.
As soon as the Nova Corps left, the massive ship of the Church of Universal Truth appeared. It began using a tractor beam to pull in the abandoned ships, and the people on those vessels began accepting the promise just to survive.
I'll show what happens next later.
I personally took all the screenshots from my play and I used a logo of the game from online to use in the thumbnail.
