Just when I thought the warehouse was clear, I uncovered an infected-infested section filled with leftover supplies. Attempting a stealthy scavenge, I alerted the horde and was rushed by a booster. After retreating behind a narrow gap to bottle them up, a foolish decision to step forward got me completely swarmed.
Right when I thought I had finished clearing out the warehouse, I stumbled upon a hidden, forgotten section of the facility that was completely overrun with infected.
Spotting crates of valuable supplies scattered across the room, I realized how close I had come to walking away from a goldmine of resources.
Scavenging through the dusty shelves, I even found evidence that another survivor had breached this sector before me, preparing supply caches in stages before becoming a victim to the environment.
Hoping to gather everything without making a scene, I crouched down and began a quiet, stealthy infiltration through the shadow-drenched corridors.
Despite my best efforts to stay quiet, a nearby runner caught my movement, alerting the entire room to my presence.
Backing up rapidly to gain distance, I heard the heavy, guttural roars of a booster charging straight toward me through the darkness.
Refusing to let the beast close the distance, I sprinted backward into the previous hallway, dodging his heavy lunges just in time.
Switching to a heavy melee weapon, I waited for the smaller infected to trickling through the doorway, taking them down one by one with calculated strikes.
However, the initial trickle quickly turned into a massive wall of bodies as the rest of the swarm converged on my position simultaneously.
Outnumbered and running low on breathing room, I beat a swift retreat through a narrow structural gap in the warehouse wall. Reaching the other side, I realized with relief that the infected pathfinding couldn't easily squeeze through the tight breach
I still don't know why I stepped back out into the open, walking straight into the doorway and giving the trapped horde a clear line of attack.
The moment I crossed the threshold, the infected lunged forward as a pack, grabbing me before I could swing my weapon and dragging me down to the floor.
I'll show what happens next later.
I personally took all the screenshots from my play and I used a logo of the game from online to use in the thumbnail.
