It's a pretty well known story that YouTube was acquired by Google for $1.65 billion in 2016. As a result, it soon came to pass that Google's users base was also YouTube's Audience.
Most searches in Google all started with the letter 'Y'; hence Y...YouTube. The video sharing site soon replaced the TV, as more people started to spend more hours online.

With a user base of 1.3 billion users, YouTube generates 3 billion searches each month. That's quite an achievement, considering YouTube is a video site, and not a search engine.

As both YouTube and Google are literally the same company, you would think that each brand would want to succeed together, and this true. But at times it's difficult to control the growth of each brand, as YouTube might even overtake Google, and becomes the world's number 1 search engine.
Why has YouTube become so popular?
YouTube is considered to be the new form of TV, and we can all remember how powerful the TV was, especially before we all had smartphones. The YouTube platform also gives us something the TV era lacked - unlimited choice.
