Here's why you need a deadcat when you're shooting outdoors. I give a real live demonstration I did when I tried to use my shotgun mic without a deadcat in a video. If you're shooting outdoors, there's a good chance that there's some wind blowing around. With that wind comes a audio obstacle. Some think it's enough to have a pop-filter for their audio, but those serve two different functions. What you really need is a deadcat to block out all the wind so that your vocal soundwaves get taken into the mic input.
