I see. Some valid points here and things I didn´t realize before. Thank you for that. But I cannot fully agree with your comparison of traveling around the US for US folks being similar to traveling around Europe for us Europeans. I mean, yes, in terms of the distances and affordability. But while traveling around the US, you are still in the US, still in the same country, same people, same history, same culture etc. Here in Europe, the differences among individual countries are huge, even though they are not located so far from each other. For example, looking at the map, a drive from Switzerland to Serbia takes some 12 hours, which is not even considered a long trip in the US but the differences between these two countries (Switzerland and Serbia) are just staggering. It´s like visiting two different worlds. And this would apply to most Europe. We are a small continent but extremely diverse and the differences in culture, history, traditions, languages, living standards etc. etc. are really huge here. So even if you travel "only" around Europe, it still broadens your horizons significantly. But yeah, it´s quite common here to travel to other continents as well. Most of my friends have been to at least one continent other than Europe.
