Interesting topic. I have been hearing a lot about muscle memory lately and just like you, I also wondered whether or how much this phenomenon is actually real. So apparently, there is some science behind it. Cool. I´m yet to test it on myself though. The problem is that I basically just switched calisthenics for lifting and I´m planning to keep on lifting so I don´t know when I will get a chance to test it and I guess I don´t even want to as that would mean that, for some reason, I would have to stop working out for a longer period of time. So no, thank you, I better just stick with reading about muscle memory :D
Btw I would say that calves are very special muscles. I know a few people who have gigantic calves, since childhood and for no particular reason. But just calves. Their other muscles look absolutely normal. Weird. I mean I don´t know anyone who would have, for example, such inappropriately large shoulders or biceps. It´s always calves.
RE: Is muscle-memory real? The answer is we don't really know
