Hi there my Hivean friends and followers!
I have come across a few quarantine-themed writing contests here on Hive and my today´s post will be an entry for one of them. I picked the My Quarantine Challenges contest that is run by @anomadsoul and sponsored by
@blocktrades and
@ocdb - thank you for that, guys!
You can find out more about the initiative here.

First off, let me introduce you to the quarantine situation where I am right now - on the Azorean island of Sao Miguel, a remote volcanic island located in the North Atlantic, far away from mainland Portugal that the island is officially a part of.
The island has a population of approximately 140,000 people and there are currently just about 40 confirmed cases of the corona virus infection, which is a relatively good number but in terms of the safety measures, the Azores Islands have adopted a very strict policy and we are currently under a severe stay-at-home order that allows us to go out only to buy food or medication or to walk a dog.
To be honest with you, I have a really hard time complying with this measure as I am a very outdoorsy kind of person and if I cannot go out to spend some time in the fresh air (preferably somewhere in nature), I get nervous, anxious and I often have troubles falling asleep after such a day.
On the other hand, being locked in your home gives you the opportunity to do things that you normally don´t or you don´t have time to do. Here are 3 things that I picked as my challenges for this contest.
1) Working Out
Now don´t get me wrong with this one. I am a big fan of sport and I have been always keeping myself in shape but the quarantine comes with a lot of free time and I am trying to take advantage of it to get in my best form ever. For obvious reasons, I cannot get my regular cardio doses (jogging) so instead, I have been really focusing on the body weight workout. I do all kinds of push ups and pull ups that our apartment equipment offers, I squat with a heavy backpack on my back and I make full use of my resistance bands. I work out every day now, usually for at least one hour.
2) Hiving
Again, this is something I do anyway but I am definitely spending more time on Hive these days and I love it :) With Hive being just a few weeks old, I think the quarantine offers a great opportunity for us to help our new virtual home take off in an impressive manner and make some noise in the crypto community. I spend long hours Hiving these days, working on my posts, running various challenges and giveaways, commenting, curating, chatting with fellow Hivers on Discord etc. We now have a great chance to build, engage and develop so let´s take advantage of that and make Hive a truly unique and amazing place that will have the potential to become the best social blockchain in the world.
3) Keeping In Touch
Keeping in touch with my family and friends is something I neglected sometimes and I am sorry about that. Thanks to all the modern technologies, it´s very easy to be in touch with your beloved ones and yet, we often fail to do that as often as we would like to. Now, while being locked in our apartment, I have been trying to be in touch with my family and friends in my homeland on regular basis (almost every day) and it feels really good. Definitely something I will try to maintain even when things get back to normal.
So these were my points for the My Quarantine Challenges contest run by @anomadsoul and sponsored by
@blocktrades and
@ocdb. Thank you again for this great initiative guys.
I hope you enjoyed my entry and feel free to come up with your own, my fellow Hivers - I would love to learn more about your quarantine challenges :)
