I got my new toys in the mailbox today. :)
Ebay sent me a $15 credit to use on anything, so I ordered a couple of these talk buttons I've been wanting for a while! People are using them with their dogs and cats to communicate better. I follow one dog and one cat on YouTube (Bunny and Billi, respectively) who have learned a LOT of words. I'm going to start with one for a common request for each of my kitties that they don't really have in common: "up" for Maggie (because she needs me to pick her up and put her on the bed), and "balcony time" for Yuan (Maggie isn't really interested in balcony time, so that's really a Yuan thing).
The main reason I am choosing "up" for Mags is because for both "up" and "food," she sits at the side of the bed and yells meows at me. I don't know which she wants until I get up: if she wants food, she starts leading me to the kitchen; if she wants up she stays put and keeps meowing. So we kind of already have a system, but when I am tired and she, for instance, already has food that she just isn't in the mood for, I don't want to keep having to get up only to discover that no, she just wants me to open a different can of cat food, lol. I would love to cater to her every whim, but unfortunately I can't afford that. 😅 We go through tons of wet food as it is!
If you've not seen any of the pets-and-buttons videos, here's one of my favorites that makes me laugh every time:
I think that must have been when Billi was first learning the word mad, because in other videos, he presses "mad" and when his human asks, "why are you mad?" he presses another button, like, say, "outside" when he wanted to go out but it was raining and he didn't like that. ;D
Another Christmas present: I reached rep 67! Woop woop!
So thank you to everyone who gave me an upvote and helped me to get here. You rock! _
Like many Christmases, I got my new toys but don't have enough batteries, lol. I thought I could rob from a remote control but apparently I already did that a long time ago, because it was empty. 😂 I was able to rob from a book light, so at least "up" is now in play. Wish us luck!
Happy Christmas to all who celebrate!
