35km. east of Bendigo is Lake Eppalock. Set in lovely Australian bushland, it is a pleasant drive and a great place for a picnic or various water activities. With the large amount of recent rain, we decided to go and have a look at the water levels and see how much they have impacted the surrounding land.
We made a stop at the lakes edge and straight away we could see how far the water had risen, as the edge of the lake was no longer visible, and the water was starting to engulf the surrounding bushland.
We then made our way to the top of the spillway which was flowing quite vigorously. Making our way to the bottom of the spillway we could see the volume of water coming down the slope and gushing down the river path leaving pools of foam in its wake.
A week after our visit, the road and surrounding bushland were submerged in flood waters, so it was lucky that we visited when we did.
