Philippines - a country where I was born and raised.Looking back on memory lane, I had happy and sad memories of growing up. I was never born with a silver spoon on my mouth. Like any other children, my family struggled to provide food in the table. My childhood was a recollection of playing with my cousins, neighborhood friends as well as street children. I am blessed with an enduring mother who taught me that patience, flexibility and resilience are essential for survival.Sad memories of not having the love of a father at my side.Living in the world of what ifs, if only and how to be loved by my father. Nevertheless, I managed to come out strong emotionally. When I landed my first job, I remembered how ecstatic I was. I told myself, this is real and I hope to be successful one day.
America- fast forward to the land of opportunities. They said the grass is greener on this side. Not one hundred percent true depending upon what your purpose of coming here. But yes, everyone has an opportunity to better their lives here. But I am glad that I am not living in another country where resources are exhausted or no resources at all. A government that does not help its people, no progress for the hard working population because the poor stays poor (either hard working or lazy) and the rich want to get more rich because of greed or they just want to protect their status/investment. I earned my place here, with faith in God, hard work, patience and resiliency I am here together with a family who loves me dearly. What could I ask for more?
No country is 100 percent flawless but I am blessed to have lived in this two countries. And I am enjoying every moment of it. Here is to my mellow weekend, full of happy thoughts and relaxing moment with my family.
I hope yours is the same. Steem On!
Many thanks @surpassinggoogle for this #ulog initiative and motivating Filipinos on Steemit.
