When I was studying at university, my parents didn't have enough money to finance me, so I had to take an additional job... One of the first ones was in the PC Gaming club, where I had those nasty night shifts... They weren't 12 hours like yours, but rather from 10:00 PM until 6:00 AM... I kind of liked them as it was so peaceful and most of the time, I had company of clients who were "night owls", playing games until morning...
The big disadvantage was that I was completely disconnected from the "rest of the world", as I was sleeping during the day... You're probably doing the same...
Anyways, I suppose you will have some opportunities to grow in your hotel job, as it looks like your employer takes care of workers!
