It's hard to imagine so many brilliant people building these companies without a vision for how this eventually becomes profitable.
I suppose they work/think/develop in stages... As there are too many AI companies, there is no way that ALL can be profitable... Someone has to go bankrupt and die, for another to thrive... When that happens, the winner will re-adjust margins and recover losses...
Something similar happened when I was running a computer shop in 3 different cities... I realized that another big company is working with losses, just to kill others... Depending on their pockets and how LONG they can do it, it can last months or years... Unfortunately, in my case ie was years which I couldn't finance to run my business... When they killed the competition, they raised prices a lot!
But after watching benchmark videos and the avalanche of tests currently making the rounds on YouTube, it doesn't really seem like Moonshot is selling smoke.
When you hear stories of "patriotism" and "nationalism" as a main joker of Western companies, you can smell fear and weakness... "Don't use Chinese models, they are spying on you..." and similar... Trying to gaslight others usually doesn't work for the long term...
A month ago, I shared your opinion that AI will become more expensive... But recently, when I saw that the Chinese model needs over 20x less compute (and money) to run with better results, I don't think the same... It could be more expensive, but it should be (even) a lot more advanced...
We will see what happens... All this is moving so fast, and who knows how it will finish... We can just guess... 😃
