For a long time, I have wanted to create a post on this topic as it's very important, not just for newbies, but also for experienced Hivers... Today, I have bumped on one interesting post by 
Firstly, the sentence from the title is probably one of the most popular here on HIVE, and probably out there too... In general, most people have that feeling that nobody cares about him/her, that nobody ever listens to us (do you have kids? lol), and nobody gives a shit what we are talking about...
When you come to HIVE you are like an empty piece of paper... You have to write on the paper, others would take a peak what have you wrote, add something... Then you take another sheet, create a new story, and someone else comes and comments... Until you write a book... Then, you have followers that are checking your content and maybe, maybe, you don't have that feeling that nobody reads your stuff...

But, even when you are an "established" author, you can have that feeling... Maybe you will get 2-3 comments and you think that you "deserve more", and that nobody else reads it... but you are wrong... Even when people KNOW that commenting on HIVE is important, many of them don't do it... So, if you have 2-3 comments, that doesn't mean that just those 2-3 people read it... It's probably a lot more... (Btw., maybe those 2-3 commenters didn't even read your stuff... lol... it happens often)
I have to admit that sometimes I have the same problem... I think that nobody reads my posts... I mean, I know that a couple of followers do it, but it looks like nobody else "outside" is doing it... But, it's not true... 10 days ago I have written a post about HIVEUPMe Exchange Service and it looks that many people found that information valuable... I got plenty of comments from unknown people that I have never met before... So, people ARE reading quality posts... So, we have a solution... Provide value with your posts and it will be appreciated by the community!

Now, back to the other post that I mentioned in beginning... Rob wrote in his post a list of things that he "DOESN'T DO", explaining why he can't create posts in certain niches... Nobody forces you to write something that you don't like... If others are doing it, you don't have to do it! You can do something else, in your way... You CAN do it! But if you force yourself to do something that you don't like, you will fail... over and over again...
Write about what you LIKE... There is an audience for almost every possible topic... They will find you, but you should try to find them first... Explore communities, comment on others' posts, find inspiration... It's not that hard...
It's not hard to create a list of excuses why we can't do something... That everyone can do it... I can list a dozen in less than a minute... lol... starting with... English is not my mother language... It's almost 2 AM... I'm too tired... I don't have enough time for anything else... I'm not an expert... etc...

But, when you start with blogging... Don't pretend to be something that you aren't... Don't try to be someone else... Be yourself... People will appreciate that the most... If you just copy others, people will pass... and go directly to the person that you copy... to the source... And also, if you do that, and later on change your mind... You will have to do a double effort to "repair the damage"...
People on HIVE are PEOPLE! Because of that, don't treat them like shit... They came to your blog, spent time reading it, maybe left a comment, and you didn't even reply... REPLY to EVERY comment on your post, and do it with a MEANINGFUL comment! Dedicate your time to them as they have dedicated their time to YOUR post! You can do at least that for your audience... UPVOTE comments... It doesn't cost ANYTHING!
