Today I will be going down with California Youth Connection, a foster youth advocacy organisation, to attend the Foster Youth Summer Summit.
The Summer Summit is mainly to choose which Assembly bills (Ex. AB-12 A.K.A. Extended Foster Care to 21), Senate bills, or Budget Requests (Like a request for 20 million to be added to the attorney funding for foster youth since some attorneys have up to 300 clients on their caseload) to work on trying to get passed for foster youth in California.
We also focus on trying to help foster youth learn how to advocate for themselves, since a lot of us don't know how to, or how to properly do so in a respectable manner. We also provide proper public speech practice and advice.
I'll be posting more photos and updates on what's happening there, the bulls that are being proposed, and I'll totally be doing an after report of how it went for you all!
