The Suzuki GS450 did a great job and I enjoyed it, but briefly and as with boys, more power was now needed so back to the search and I had left school as there was no money for it and I had started working for an uncle during which time I was also called up to the army. Compulsory service with a sentence for deserters. The hot brunette I had gotten involved in taught me all sorts of new things, but also moved on to someone that wasn't going to the army.

Now looking for an even bigger bike I went off to Bloemfontein in the Free State to a motorcycle dealer that had a Kawasaki 900 Ninja that I could afford.

I got to the bike shop, spoke to the salesman and he bought my Suzuki GS450 off me for cash as it was in really good condition. While standing around waiting for the other salesman with my cash in hand I heard an elderly farming selling his Honda GL1100 Goldwing for much less than I had with me as he was looking for some extra money for his daughter to take to England as she was going off to university. I gave the smoking hot daughter one look and marched over to take a look at the bike.

Well the blonde was gorgeous, her father a very nice man and the bike pristine, win win win. So I paid the man in cash, we got the bike transfer papers signed and was off to their place for lunch, oh and supper. I spent the whole day there.

Following morning I was heading back home to Kimberley on the Goldwing which was the most comfortable bike I have ever been on and the power difference between that and the 450 was enormous. I loved it, a lot! Shortly after this I met my now ex wife at a church function.

The Goldwing saw quite a few bike rallies before I bussed off to the army and a few during the army. The Goldwing and I unfortunately ended up colliding with a white Ford Cortina bakkie

at a 160 km/hour. I lost my left kidney, bottom rib on the left side, 10% of my liver, got a chip out of my left kneecap and a few other problems, but I was devastated that my Goldwing was a write off, that broke my heart.

Well my healing process was very painful, the defense force not very understanding as I was on pass, never saw the blonde again, my mother was in a state of distress, my short lived bodybuilding career at a halt & the guy that caused the accident in jail for attempted murder as he went through a stop street and left the scene of the accident and leaving me for dead.

Lesson learnt, slower is better and always look carefully at intersections even if you have the right of way.
