Sometime ago my wife and I spent a weekend at the Preskil Beach Resort in Mauritius. We had just finished a week’s holiday in Reunion and were due to fly back home to South Africa. The flight connection was from Mauritius so we spent two nights at the Preskil.
We were very impressed with the hotel and it beautiful location on Blue Bay lagoon on the southeast coastline. We had a beachfront unit with an uninterrupted view of the bay and mountains in the background! The hotel itself offered first class accommodation and cuisine with its combination of tropical French and Asian architecture.
The next morning I decided I wanted to go for a sail in one of the hotel’s sailing dinghies so the beach staff helped me rig and launch the boat and I was away, beating upwind towards the Ile Aux Aigrettes, a small islet nearby. I was told not to go far but I lost track of time and before I knew it I had circumnavigated the islet - the staff had to send a launch out to tell me to come back in!
